Leigh Centurions 34 Doncaster 8: Doncaster fail to build on early Sanderson try

Bobbie Goulding couldn’t convert but the dual-contract Wakefield Trinity Wildcat enjoyed a strong first half.

Simon Finnigan pulled a try back for Leigh with Martyn Ridyard goaling.

Leigh increased their advantage after 26 minutes when Gregg McNally got through a couple of tackles and fed the ball back to Finnigan to claim his second with Ridyard goaling again.

Doncaster roared into the contest just beyond the half hour mark when wide play again brought favour and Dan Cowling brushed through a couple of tackles on the line.

A penalty on the stroke of half-time handed Leigh a six-point advantage, and Ridyard his fourth goal before the hosts took control of the second half.

First Finnigan claimed his hat-trick before further scores followed from Ryan Brierley, Jon Pownall and Sean Penkywicz with Brierley adding one conversion as Leigh tackled the brave Dons out of the contest to claim their third successive Kingstone Press Championship win.
