London 34 Hunslet 12: Hawks grounded by Naiqama’s hat-trick

London Broncos saw off Hunslet Hawks at The Hive as the hunt for the top four in the Championship heats up.

Wes Naiqama contributed 22 of those points for London scoring a hat-trick in the process. Matt Glee and Robbie Ward scored the first-half tries for Hunslet.

The defeat for Hawks was their third in succession while Broncos are enjoying four wins on the bounce.

Hunslet got off to a promising start with repeat sets on the Broncos’ try line but could not capitalise. Five minutes later Elliot Kear dashed in to score out of nowhere before London captain Naiqama touched down.

Barry Eaton’s men hit back on 22 minutes when the Parksiders punished Broncos for some sloppy play. A late inclusion in the match-day squad, Gee went over after good Hawks pressure.

Hunslet grew into the game and levelled when Ward pounced to score. Jordan Lilley converted with ease.

London took back the lead twelve minutes into the second 12 through the ever dangerous Oscar Thomas. Naiqama converted to make it 18-12.

Referee Bloem penalised Lilley for a high tackle and Naiqama kicked the penalty to take the Broncos out of touching distance.

Naiqama outclassed the Hawks with two quick tries to seal a hat-trick as the Broncos’ quality started to really shine through.

Rhys Williams galloped over soon after the restart to take the scores to 34-12 and put the result out of any doubt.
