London Broncos 10 Hull KR 62: Eden back in style as Robins eye the play-offs

Hull KR caretaker-coach Chris Chester said Greg Eden had answered his critics in spectacular style after the full-back produced a man-of-the-match display in their rout of London Broncos.

Eden was dropped from the squad for the defeat to Salford for disciplinary reasons, but returned to run in three tries as part of an all-action display.

Chester said: “Greg can be a bit of a freak sometimes. I thought he played very, very well today. He took the punishment we gave him on the chin and he has come back in style.

“We all know how good a player he is and how important he is.

“Overall, I thought it was a very professional performance from the side and puts us in a good position.”

The visitors wasted little time in getting started at The Hive, with Josh Hodgson running in the first try inside the opening nine minutes.

By the interval, it was 26-0 to the Robins, with two tries from Eden backed up by scores from Kevin Larroyer and 10 points from the boot of Travis Burns.

It was more of the same after the break as Liam Salter (two), Mick Weyman (two), Ade Gardner, Adam Walker and Eden again ran in further tries.

The Broncos at least managed two tries of their own, both scored by Jordan Atkins.

The win moved Rovers within a point of the play-off places, while the spectre of finishing the Super League season winless continues to haunt the Londoners.

Broncos coach Joe Grima said: “For us it was a case of not getting the job done. We started off badly and we finished the game badly. We wanted to complete our sets in the right area and we were just not able to do that.

“For us now it is all about finishing the season as positively as we can, but more importantly planning for where this club is going to be next season.”
