London Broncos 12 Leeds Rhinos 58: More to come from Rhinos, insists coach McDermott after Broncos rout

Leeds coach Brian McDermott admitted there is still a long way to go for his side despite their 58-12 demolition of London Broncos on Saturday.

Defending champions Rhinos eased to sixth in the Stobart Super League table with this 10-try romp, stretching clear with six tries in the final 20 minutes of the contest.

However, McDermott insisted there was plenty more hard work ahead as he said: “We are still not where we want to be as far as our league position goes.

“But we have a bit of momentum now, and a big game to come against Hull next week.

“I actually thought this was a really tough game.

“Of all the games where you look at it and say the scoreline did not reflect the match, this was it.

“It was a game of four quarters and we took the most of what came our way.”

The Broncos actually led 6-0 after 25 minutes thanks to a Chris Bailey try, only for braces from Shaun Lunt and Danny McGuire to hand Leeds a 24-6 interval lead.

Once again the hosts came out of the blocks quickest after the break, narrowing the deficit through Kieran Dixon and swamping the Rhinos for a solid 20 minutes. But they failed to make their domination tell, and Leeds clicked in the final 20 minutes of the contest to romp home.

McGuire added two further scores for a four-try haul, with Carl Ablett, Zac Hardaker and Kylie Leuluai rubbing salt into London’s wounds with additional touchdowns.
