Lowes unhappy after Bulls fail to keep pace

Henry opened the scoring from Jake Mullaney’s pass and touched down again from a kick after Adam Sidlow had barrelled over the line.

A 16-0 lead should have given Bradford a comfortable platform for victory but they switched off and Workington hit back twice through Wigan youngster Sam Powell’s close-range scores.

That made it 16-10 at the break but the Bulls gradually made their class pay, with a devastating purple patch which harvested four tries in seven minutes.

Mullaney touched down from close range and then Epalahame Lauaki crashed over the line to score his first try for the club.

Danny Williams then finished off in the left corner before Mullaney supported Adam O’Brien’s break to score between the posts.

Workington scored a late consolation from Connor Farrell but the Bulls held on for victory – although it was not enough to overhaul Leigh at the summit after they thumped Sheffield.

The performance left Bulls boss Jimmy Lowes largely frustrated as he felt his men were way below par.

He said: “We were terrible. We started the game off at a pace they couldn’t cope with, but for whatever reason we lowered ourselves.

“The pace and control that we showed at the start – everything just dropped off after we scored our tries.”
