Moon returns eager to start Rhinos’ career

The unsettled 24-year-old centre, who will wear the No 4 shirt at Headingley Carnegie, had mixed fortunes at the Reds last season and jumped at the chance to join Leeds for an undisclosed fee despite having another year left on his contract.

“It was an up and down year last season at Salford for me and the club,” he said. “It was tough when I had a few injuries and wasn’t playing.

“But going home at the end of the season gave me a chance to have a look at the situation again and when I found out that Leeds were still looking to recruit a centre, I got in touch and they were still keen to sign me so I decided it was the right move for me and my family.”

Salford coach Phil Veivers was left unhappy at losing Moon.

“He said he was homesick. I haven’t checked the map but I presume Leeds must be closer to Sydney than Salford is,” Veivers said.

Former St Helens prop Keith Mason has left Huddersfield, the Giants have revealed.

The 30-year-old has been linked with a move to Wakefield.
