Moore back with Giants looking to resurrect his career

Scott Moore’s latest attempt to revive his career will start in familiar Huddersfield Giants colours tomorrow.

The talented but troubled hooker knows he needs to begin repaying the faith shown in him by coach Nathan Brown when they face Swinton Lions in the Carnegie Challenge Cup.

Brown re-signed Moore for a second spell at the Galpharm after he was recently released by struggling Widnes Vikings just six games into a three-year deal and following a breach of club discipline.

A series of off-field discretions have threatened to ruin his progress in the game but it was with Huddersfield where he enjoyed his finest form.

Moore played for the Giants in the 2009 Challenge Cup final at Wembley during a season-long loan from St Helens which also saw him earn his England debut.

Brown hopes to see the 24-year-old recapture that sort of rich form and he gets a chance against Championship outfit Swinton.

“Scott has been back for two weeks now training hard and doing plenty of work,” he said.

“It will be a good game for him to integrate back in with the boys. There have been some changes since Scott was last here.

“It will be interesting to see how he goes but I am sure he will do a good solid job.”

As part of the deal he has signed until the end of the season, Moore will relocate to the Huddersfield area from his current Leigh home.

Brown had earlier mentioned that the player needs to get away from certain friends there who may be strangling his chances of ever fulfilling his undoubted promise.

Moore has bought into the idea and vowed to make the most of this unexpected chance with the West Yorkshire club.

If Brown can rekindle his form of three years ago, he could certainly be a major asset not only in their attempt to return to Wembley but remain at the top of Super League and push on for a maiden Grand Final appearance.

The Huddersfield coach leaves out captain Kevin Brown, England prop Eorl Crabtree and England Knights duo Jermaine McGillvary and Larne Patrick tomorrow through either injury or a need for rest.

However, experienced duo Lee Gilmour and David Fa’alogo return to the squad and Brown insists he will not take the part-timers lightly.

He said: “Everyone who plays will have had some Super League experience this year; we won’t be putting out a team of youngsters.”
