Morris double ends Wigan’s title hopes

Hull KR: Coach Justin Morgan has confirmed influential scrum-half Michael Dobson will be out for 10 weeks following ankle surgery at the end of last week.

Dobson, who has been selected for Super League’s Dream Team the past two years, missed his side’s 31-18 defeat to Catalan Dragons at Craven Park.

Morgan felt the time was right to get the injury sorted now rather than later in the season.

“Michael hurt his ankle a little while back and it has been aggravated the last few weeks,” said Morgan.

“We decided to send him for an operation at the back end of the week and he’ll be missing for about 10 weeks.

“It was something that needed to be done at some point, but we were hopeful we could nurse him through a number of weeks. But I made the decision, there was no point in sending him out to play on one leg.

“We had to bite the bullet and get it sorted out and he has had the operation.

“That didn’t have a bearing on the game, though.

“We gifted them too much ball and we gave them the chance to play into some form and they took advantage of that.”
