Nathaniel Peteru one of 11 first-teamers to exit Hull KR

Hull Kingston Rovers prop Nathaniel Peteru has joined Leigh Centurions for 2021 with the Robins confirming the departure of 11 first-teamers.

The Kiwi becomes the fourth Rovers player to join Championship Leigh - following Jamie Ellis, Ryan Brierley and Matty Gee.

Mitch Garbutt (Toulouse), Will Oakes (Dewsbury Rams) and Adam Rooks (Bradford Bulls) have also dropped into the second tier.

But the Super League club also confirmed yesterday that captain Weller Hauraki, Kyle Trout, Dan Murray and Harvey Livett have not been offered new deals.

Head coach Tony Smith said: “Each and every one of these players have been extremely professional in our conversations about their contracts, and I would like to thank them for everything they have done for the club.

“We wish them all the best for the future.”Former Leeds Rhinos forward Peteru, 28, is expected to make a big impact at Leigh who are hoping to force their way into Super League.

Centurions coach John Duffy said: “Nate is a big boy; he’s a non-nonsense forward who adds plenty of value to our squad and I am sure he will be a great acquisition for us.

“We’re trying to build the best squad we possibly can despite the current circumstances and it’s very exciting when you look and who we’ve got in our ranks at present.

“I was lucky to work with Nate when I was at Featherstone (Rovers) and he’s a great professional having coming through the NRL systems.”
