New points record from Hemingway

Former Huddersfield stand-off Tom Hemingway re-wrote the record books with a 48-point haul in Blackpool's 132-0 win over Gateshead at the Woodlands Memorial Ground.

Hemingway scored one of the Panthers' 22 tries and kicked all 22 conversions to smash the club record he equalled earlier this year in their 74-6 Northern Rail Cup win over Gateshead, which was Blackpool's previous record victory.

Remarkably no player scored a hat-trick, with Kurt Haggerty, Josh Charnley, Martin Keaveny, Damian Munroe, Paul Ballard, John Clough, Casey Mayberry and Martin Ainscough all touching down twice and other tries coming from Danny Halliwell, John Leather, Adam Thomas, Paul Anderson and Mark McCully.

It was the second time Gateshead have conceded a century of points this season, having lost 100-4 at home to Batley in March, as they failed to cope with the absence of four players through suspension.

Blackpool remain a point behind Oldham, who maintained their advantage thanks to a 46-12 win over London Skolars, their first success at the Whitebank Stadium.

Kenyan winger Lucas Onyango scored two tries for the Roughyeds, with others coming from Martin Roden, Paul O'Connor, Danny Whitmore, Ben Heaton, Craig Robinson and John Gillam, while Matt Ashe kicked seven goals.

David Williams scored a try in each half and Ade Adebisi also touched down for the Skolars, who have lost all 10 matches so far this season.
