New venison manager at Holme

YORKSHIRE venison specialists Holme Farmed Venison has announced the appointment of Tim Bastable as its new procurement manager.

Mr Bastable will take charge of sourcing stock – both as finished animals for processing and as calves for growing – for the Sherburn in Elmet based company.

With a strong career background in agriculture spanning 20 years, he joins Holme Farmed Venison from Venico, a farmer-run venison cooperative. Previously he has also worked as head of primestock meat strategy at Harrison and Hetherington auctioneers.

The appointment of Mr Bastable follows the installation of a state-of-the-art roundhouse facility at the firm's farm, which allows for effective stock management of the deer.

A graduate of Shuttleworth College, Mr Bastable said: "I'm looking forward to working with Holme Farmed Venison, especially as they have the roundhouse, which helps to raise the herds ethically."
