Oldham 28 Doncaster 18: Defiant Doncaster earn late reward

DONCASTER battled every inch of the way to earn a fully deserved bonus point at Oldham with a late rally.

Trailing 28-6 early in the second half against the leaders, Dons put a smile on coach Tony Miller's face by battling back to score late tries through centre Chris Spurr and inspirational loose-forward Rob Lunt.

Stand-off Simon Brown converted both to carry the visitors into bonus-point territory and it was no more than they deserved.

Oldham got off to a flying start with tries by winger Lucas Onyango and centre Mick Fogerty, both improved by on-loan half-back Gregg McNally.

Doncaster, playing up the slope in the first half, remained in contention when substitute Jack Ely crashed over for a try which Brown converted.

Valu Bentley latched on to Neil Roden's kick to register Oldham's third try and early in the second half tries by Joe Chandler and John Gillam were goaled by McNally for a 22-point lead.

Doncaster's defiance saw full-back Tom Griffiths send in Spurr for a try and Brown added the goal then converted when Lunt scored to capitalise on Brown's superb 40-20 and a great offload by centre Shaun Leaf.
