Orr heads back to The Jungle

FORMER Castleford captain Danny Orr will return to his old club for the 2011 season, the Tigers have announced.

The 32-year-old half-back scored 882 points in 191 appearances for his home-town club from 1997 to 2003 before joining Wigan and going on to spend the last four seasons with Harlequins.

He has signed a 12-month contract with the Tigers, where he will also have a coaching role.

"I'm very pleased to have signed Danny for next year," said Castleford coach Terry Matterson. "He brings a lot of experience and he's a very smart player at both half-back and hooker.

"We felt that it was important to bring someone in who could help move the team around and Danny fits the bill. He will both complement and take some pressure off Rangi (Chase).

"Danny knows the environment and being a local boy adds to his appeal. He is also keen to do some coaching of our younger players so he will be involved in that."

Orr, who was a Challenge Cup finalist with Wigan in 2004, said: "I'm really pleased to have been given this chance to return to the Tigers as everyone knows I'm a Cas lad and proud to be and I enjoyed my time with the club.

"I did have other opportunities but I have always wanted to return to Cas and as soon as I knew that there was an opportunity, my mind was made up."

Meanwhile, Matterson has dismissed speculation linking the Tigers with a move for prop Iafeta Paleaaesina, who is expected to be released by Wigan at the end of the season.
