Platt runs in four tries as Bradford pile trouble on Broncos

Bradford coach Mick Potter heaped praise on Michael Platt after the centre’s four tries saw the Bulls squeeze past London 29-22 at the Matchroom Stadium.

Platt claimed a double in each half as the visitors stormed back from a nightmare opening to secure victory.

Potter said: “They were not walk-in tries – Michael really had to work hard to score them.

“He has fought his way back into the team and at the moment he is really making his presence felt.

“It was a really tough match.

“Before we blinked we were 16-0 down and really up against it. I was really pleased with the way we fought back and the grit that we showed.

“But you cannot start games like we did and expect to get away with it.”

Everything seemed rosy for the hosts after 10 minutes, having notched tries through Michael Robertson, Matt Cook and Michael Channing.

But after Karl Pryce got Bradford on the board when he claimed Luke Gale’s kick it was a very different matter.

Platt struck twice before the break, cancelling out a further London score from Michael Witt.

And the centre helped himself to two more after the break, muscling over in the corner each time.

His try on 62 minutes finally moved the Bulls ahead, with a late penalty and drop-goal from former London star Gale sealing the deal.

The result leaves the Londoners struggling at the foot of the table, while Bradford continue to look good for a play-off place.

Disappointed Broncos coach Rob Powell said: “We had the game in our hands and we have let them off the hook.

“Bradford should not have been only six points behind at half-time after the way we started.

“We made too many simple errors in the second half and our completion rate was poor,” he said.

“I thought we defended well throughout, but when you make that many errors it will always be tough.

“They scored four tries going through one man and that will have to be a learning experience for us.”
