Ploughing festival on this weekend

THIS weekend sees the 30th anniversary celebrations of The Festival of the Plough.

The event is the largest charity ploughing match in the country, having raised over 200,000 since its inception.

The festival takes place at High Burnham Farm, Epworth, near Doncaster, tomorrow and will see 100 vintage tractors and ploughmen taking part in the competitive ploughing competitions.

Harold Woolgar, who is the president of the festival, said: " The event is always hugely popular and is a vision of by-gone days when farm labour was exactly as it says.

"The festival provides a wonderful opportunity to see how agriculture worked years ago and ensures that traditional farming methods enjoyed by those who love the land are kept alive."
