Rhinos get only all-Super League tie

The Championship One club earned the plum tie from yesterday’s draw which brought only one all-Super League match – Leeds Rhinos versus Crusaders – and a derby date between Bradford Bulls and Halifax.

Warrington have won the trophy the last two seasons, have not lost a Challenge Cup tie since May 2008 and yesterday thrashed Harlequins 82-6 to show their devastating potential.

“It doesn’t get any tougher than Warrington and it will be a great experience for the lads playing there in front of a big crowd against some of the best players in the world,” said Demetriou.

“We would have loved to have got a big Championship club at home but this will still be a good tie for the players.

“It’s a long way off but I’m sure we’ll get really excited about it when it comes to the game itself.

“We’ll just have to go there and concentrate on our job in doing the best we can but if we were to beat Warrington it would be masisve.”

Wolves coach Tony Smith said: “It’s a good draw.

“It’s good to be at home. You don’t want to take anybody lightly and we certainly won’t take Keighley lightly.

“Obviously it could have been a lot tougher but you’ve got to be on your game.”

Last season’s beaten finalists Leeds entertain Crusaders – coached by Iestyn Harris, the captain the last time Rhinos won the trophy in 1999 - on the weekend of May 7-8 with coacn Brian McDermott admitting home advantage could be crucial.

“It’s a big advantage if you can play in such a big game at home,” he said.

“Crusaders are a useful team and they’ll be fancying their chances. We’re going to get ready for a hard battle.”

Early Championship leaders Leigh will fancy their chances of springing an upset against Catalan Dragons, while the other French club in the last 32, domestic champions Lezignan, face a difficult trip to Featherstone.
