Ripley Show date changed for wedding

As all regulars at Ripley Show know, it is always held on the second Saturday in August.

Except this year, when it takes place next Sunday – August 15 – because Ripley Castle has been booked for a wedding on the Saturday, and the estate management did not want the service and speeches competing with the sound system in the castle park where the show is held.

One of the show organisers, Kate Smith, said: "The owner, Sir Thomas Ingilby, has been very good to us over the years and we cannot complain.

"But people are so used to the Saturday tradition that we need to stress that it really is on the Sunday this time.

"We should be back to the usual next year."
