Robins snap up two more for next year

hull kr: The Robins have continued their recruitment for the 2012 season by announcing the double capture of Crusaders forward Ryan O’Hara and the versatile Huddersfield Giant Graeme Horne.

Thirty-year-old O’Hara and Horne, 26, have both signed two-year contracts with the Robins, who do not have a coach for next season following the recent confirmation that Justin Morgan would leave the club at the end of the season.

O’Hara, a former New South Wales representative, joins the club as a non-quota player following a directive from the Rugby Football League, designed to find new homes for the players affected by the collapse of the Crusaders.

“It has been a bit of a rollercoaster for a few weeks and at one point it looked like I’d be going home for good,” O’Hara said.

“But with the RFL ruling on quota spots, I had a few offers from clubs but, with knowing a few of the guys who play here already, coming to Hull KR was a good fit for me.”

Horne’s move sees him return to the city where he first emerged in the game, albeit across the river with Hull FC.

Despite being a Challenge Cup winner in 2005 and a Grand Finalist in 2006, Horne was never fully able to cement a spot alongside his brother Richard at Hull, but has flourished since moving to Huddersfield two years ago.

Now accomplished anywhere in the pack or at centre, he is looking forward to a return ‘home’.

“I think I’ve matured as a player and as a person at Huddersfield,” he said.

“I’m glad to be coming back to the city and I’m really excited about next year. I want to be a very good player for the team.”

The pair follow Huddersfield winger David Hodgson in agreeing deals with KR for next season and beyond.

Hull KR forward Joel Clinton will not play again this season after having surgery on a shoulder injury.

The Australian prop suffered the problem during his side`s loss to Wigan in May and has not played since.

“We won’t see Joel again this season,” said coach Justin Morgan.

“He has had an operation on his shoulder which has been very successful from all reports and he will start his rehab later this week.”
