Rochdale Hornets 12 Dewsbury Rams 48: Rams romp to victory against sorry Hornets

DEWSBURY Rams had too much pace, power and precision for a plucky Hornets side.

Centre Scott Turner helped himself to a hat-trick of tries on the back of some exhilarating half back play from Dominic Brambani and Patch Walker, who helped himself to six conversions.

Hornets started brightly, but Bryn Powell showed electrifying pace on the outside, before finding Walker, who raced in to score. Walker converted.

The home side were then stretched as the visitors' threequarters whipped the ball out and Brambani applied the last touch. Walker converted.

Three tries in 10 minutes then broke Hornets' resistance, Turner, Andrew Bostock and Chris Spurr the beneficiaries of excellent passing and support play. Walker converted two.

With half-time approaching, Hornets' Ste Roper twisted his way over the line for a try, which he then converted.

Hornets showed more tenacity in defence after the interval, but struggled to penetrate the well-drilled Dewsbury defence.

The visitors regained the upper hand and Luke Menzies strolled in for a try. Brambani converted.

With Hornets tiring, Turner powered in for his second and third try of the day, and Powell intercepted a Paul Raftery pass and galloped in for No 9.

To their credit, the home team mounted a last attack, Phil Wood breaking and releasing the ball as he was tackled.

Danny Samuels read his intentions to score. Roper converted.
