Rochdale Hornets 16 Doncaster 22: Snitch at the double as Dons triumph

Steve Snitch was the Dons hero as his two tries made all the difference yesterday. Stewart Sanderson got the other try along with being in good kicking form.

Despite early Doncaster dominance it was Rochdale who made the breakthrough after a superb cross-field kick was gathered and squeezed inside for Lewis Sheridan to score.

The stubborn Hornets defence was finally penetrated as Snitch broke free for a try, Sanderson converting to level the scores.

The Dons took the lead in the 40th minute when Tom Hodson went over in the corner. Sanderson converted.

Rochdale closed the gap with a Stuart Littler try before Doncaster regained the six-point gap when Jacob Miller founder Sanderson who was then able to waltz over the line.

Snitch was at the double to score the crucial final try for Doncaster after he was released after an run from Scott Spaven.

Rochdale set up a tense finish after Paul Crook capitalized on Spaven’s mishandling to score and convert.

Gareth Langley tried a barnstorming run to save the day for the rowdy Hornets fans but it wasn’t enough and Doncaster stood firm.
