The New Zealand-born Tongan international will play his first game since signing a contract extension until the end of 2017 when the Black and Whites visit Castleford Tigers tonight.

Explaining his decision to commit to another two years in East Yorkshire, Talanoa said: “My girls really enjoy it here, they are loving being over here and that made my decision all the easier.

“Their happiness plays a major part in what I do in life and if they are happy, I am happy, so it was easy to stay here.

“I enjoy being here and being at this club.

“This has been the best time of my footy career and I am really enjoying myself again.”

Talanoa will have a bigger smile on his face if he can add to this year’s tally of three tries this evening.

He set himself a target of 20 at the beginning of the campaign and believes that is still realistic, despite a slow start, adding: “It’s rugby league and anything can happen.

“A few doubles or a hat-trick will soon get me moving up the try charts. I am not giving up on my target and it is still up on my goals list.

“It is just a matter of me getting the ball in my hands in the right areas of the field more, but we will get there with that.

“It’s a process we are building on. When we do get there, it will be pretty scary.”

Of the visit to Wheldon Road, Talanoa added: “Winning at Castleford is just as important to us as winning last week and ending our losing run.

“We got the win against Catalans, but it is so important we back it up this week against a team who are in a similar position to ourselves.

“Castleford did not start the season off well either and they will be just as hungry as us for the win.

“It will be tough, so mentally we have to be right for the test.”
