An impressive second-half fightback gave Sheffield victory, after they trailed 8-6 at the interval.

When Simon Brown kicked a penalty to make it 30-8 late in the game, it seemed to be a case of how many point the Eagles would bag.

But Swinton grabbed three late tries - from Shaun Robinson, Connor Farrell and Ben Austin - to slash the winning margin.

Eagles coach Mark Aston said: “The most important thing is it’s a win. We have never won here and it’s a win.

“Swinton are a quality team and asked loads of questions. I thought for 70 minutes we defended outstandingly.

“We took the foot off the gas and when you do that against a team like Swinton, they will ask you questions.”

Matty Fozard impressed for Sheffield with two tries, his first - converted by Brown - cancelling out Chris Atkin’s converted try, the latter also kicking a penalty.

But Sheffield bulldozed the opposition in the second half, with tries from Will Hope, Menzie Yere, Garry Lo and Fozard.

The Eagles also had two good calls for tries chalked off by the video referee, before Swinton staged their late show.
