Sheffield Eagles 64 Barrow Raiders 10: Ten-try Eagles fly into quarter-finals

Sheffield Eagles went on a 10-try romp as they brushed aside Barrow Raiders to reach their second Cup quarter-final in 10 days.

The Eagles added a place in the last eight of the Northern Rail to their ticket to meet London Broncos in the Challenge Cup.

Three tries in the opening 10 minutes put the Eagles on the right track. Coach Mark Aston said: “The start of the game was outstanding and we ripped them to bits.”

Full-back Quentin Laulu-Togagae raced in under the posts after only 40 seconds.

Duane Straugheir touched down Patch Walker’s diagonal kick and Dominic Brambani set up the third try with a break through the middle before sending centre Menzi Yere over.

Michael Knowles picked up a loose ball and scooted through to touch down before Yere’s angled run on to Walker’s pass took him to 20 tries for the season.

Matt Garside’s side-step took him under the posts with Tom Armstrong’s pass sending Laulu-Togagae in for his second try.

Garside claimed a second and then put Joe Hirst in.

Barrow’s consolation was two late tries from Aaron Low with Kurt Haggerty kicking a goal.

Andrew Henderson and Hirst finished the scoring with Brambani kicking 10 goals.
