Shorthorn reward

Dales farmer Rob Paisley has won an Eblex award for most improved Beef Shorthorn herd.

Mr Paisley, who farms with parents Joe and Paula at Middleton, near Ilkley, picked up the award from delegates of the Shorthorn World Conference.

J&R Paisley have been breeding shorthorns since 1996 – mainly for the freezer packs they sell by doorstep delivery but also for sale as bloodstock.

They have seen a big improvement in calf growth rate over the past couple of years thanks to Glenisla Zetor, a bull they bought at Perth for 4,200 guineas.
