Showing off the best at Halifax

A housewives' panel agreed with a long line of professional judges by choosing a Beef Shorthorn bull from Tracy Severn of Barkisland as supreme champion of the cattle section at Halifax Show last Saturday.

Notable among the section winners was Jonathan Timm, formerly of Selby, currently camping out between permanent bases, continuing a storming run with his commercial beef team as well as presenting the best British Blue.

The small but comprehensive Gargrave Show, near Skipton, is today and will be reported in the Yorkshire Post on Monday. Rosedale, near Pickering, also has its show today and Mirfield, near Dewsbury, follows tomorrow.
