Siddal 6 Widnes 54: Brave Siddal swept aside by Widnes class

HALIFAX amateurs Siddal gave a brave performance before fading in the final quar ter against Championship big guns Widnes.

The Vikings, who had the former St Helens centre Steve Tyrer in hat-trick form, led only 16-6 at the break, with stand off Danny Craven and former Bradford and Huddersfield back rower Simon Finnigan joining Tyrer on the scoresheet.

Ex-Halifax and Keighley hooker Simeon Hoyle had replied for Siddal, who beat Championship One professionals Doncaster at the same stage of last year’s tournament, with wing Gareth Blackburn converting.
