Sinfield eyes Leeds Rhinos’ record

Leeds Rhinos captain Kevin Sinfield has been cleared to have a tilt at breaking the club’s all-time scoring record at Salford on Friday.

The England stand-off, who is just 15 points short of equalling Lewis Jones’ record of 2,920 set in 1964, suffered a dead leg in last Friday’s 26-18 win over Warrington but was today passed fit by the club’s medical staff.

Sinfield, who played and scored in all 42 possible games for club and country last year, has scored in the Rhinos’ last 47 matches, a run stretching back to August, 2010.

Leeds coach Brian McDermott said: “Kevin is the complete professional and does whatever the medical staff ask of him to make sure he is right for the weekend.

“He will be okay for Friday because he looks after his body so well.”
