YORK City Knights’ players completed a wonderful weekend for the club by thrashing South Wales Scorpions.

The victory came 24 hours after the club finally agreed terms with City of York Council to return to the community stadium scheme, meaning they get back their training base at York St John University and get to play home games at York City’s Bootham Crescent until the new arena is built.

The 11-try romp duly boosted their push for promotion from League One on a weekend when a few of their rivals were dropping points against each other.

Replacement hooker Kriss Brining led the try-scoring against professional rugby league’s whipping boys with his second hat-trick in as many weeks following his impact in the win over Newcastle.

Greg Minikin and Brad Nicholson also bagged braces on a day that saw four first-teamers given the weekend off. York were also without dual-registration centre Michael Channing.
