Superleague club’s future reaches court

WAKEFIELD TRINITY WILDCATS will today discover their fate as the High Court in Leeds considers another winding-up order.

Yorkshire-based insolvency experts O’Hara and Company will this morning try to persuade the court a prospective owner is in place to lead the West Yorkshire club out of administration.

This comes after mounting speculation last night that the man favourite to take over – Steve Parkin, the founding chairman of the Clipper Logistics Group who tried to buy Leeds United FC six years ago – was floundering over his bid. As many as three interested parties were still believed to be in the mix but not at the level of investment initially expected.

The Rugby Football League may still have to come on board to aid one of their founder members.

The administrators claim to have already turned down offers for some of the club’s top players. Last night, they were hoping last night that a firm offer would avoid such measures.
