Take a bite out of festival
Work is under way on this year's Dales Festival of Food and Drink, due to take place at Harmby Road near Leyburn on the Bank Holiday weekend of May 1 to May 3.
Last year, upwards of 15,000 people visited the show over the holiday weekend. This year, more than 80 local food producers will be there, along with free cookery demonstrations, Farming for Food and the Real Ale Festival, plus several guest speakers, including Gervaise Finn.
"The thing that sets the show apart," says Gerald Hodgson of the show committee, "is that local volunteers, not faceless bureaucrats, run it. This gives it a special atmosphere."
