Tomkins leads 11-try demolition of Leigh

rugby league: Sam Tomkins was at his terrorising best as Wigan hammered local rivals Leigh 60-10 to advance to the fifth round of the Tetley’s Challenge Cup.

The Wigan full-back ran in four tries as the Warriors breached their Championship opponents’ line 11 times.

Wigan led 32-6 at the break after a 15-minute blitz at the start of the half saw them run in four of their six tries.

Tomkins ran in a first-half hat-trick, while Pat Richards added two of his own with Josh Charnley also crossing.

After the break it was Richards and Charnley who both completed their hat-tricks as the Warriors ran in a further five tries.
