Veteran Noble ends 12-month league exile to mentor Broncos’ rookie boss Henderson

Former Bradford Bulls coach Brian Noble is back in the game after agreeing to become a mentor to rookie London Broncos head coach Andrew Henderson for the rest of the season.

The 54-year-old former Great Britain, Wigan, Crusaders and Salford head coach has been sidelined since being sacked by the Red Devils 12 months ago and rejecting the offer to become their director of football.

Noble, who will attend the Broncos’ home Championship game with Dewsbury on Sunday, said: “Hendo is a friend of mine and I have a lot of time for him and I think he has a lot of talent.

“The dynamics of London makes it a great place to be and I want Andrew to be as successful as possible and anything I can do to help that happen I’m thrilled for.”

Former Bradford winger Elliot Kear is also back in rugby league after signing for the Broncos.

Featherstone prop James Lockwood has been given a two-year ban for breaching the Rugby Football League’s anti-doping regulations in the first finding of its kind in the UK.

The 29-year-old former Dewsbury forward was handed the suspension by UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) after a sample taken in an out-of-competition test last November returned a positive test for growth hormone releasing factors.

Lockwood has spent the last three seasons with Featherstone.
