Wakefield players told to put it right

Wakefield Trinity coach John Kear admits his side will have to take a long hard look at themselves ahead of next weekend's clash with Harlequins following their latest setback against Yorkshire rivals Bradford Bulls.

The Wildcats had established a 10-point lead on home turf on Friday night before allowing the visitors to take control with tries from Chris Nero (2), Steve Menzies, Wayne Godwin and Heath L'Estrange which steered them towards a relatively comfortable 29-10 victory.

Bradford, who have now lost just once in their last nine games in all competitions, sit fourth in the table while Wakefield – following the weekend's subsequent action – are down in ninth.

Kear said some of his players had let themselves down and needed to respond in a positive fashion when they meet Harlequins this weekend.

"There will be a great deal of soul-searching between now and the Harlequins game," said Kear.

"Hopefully we'll come up with a solution, or a better performance over 80 minutes and a result, because it's not good enough to just compete in this league, you've got to come away with the spoils.

"It was us who came up with the horror show (on Friday).

"There's been some very good individual performances and some of the players really put their hands up, but some have really let themselves down as well."

Bradford coach, Steve McNamara, whose side are enjoying their highest league position for almost two years, admitted he was more than satisified with his side's resilience.

"I'm one of those who tries to stay away from that (league positions) but it certainly feels pretty good at this moment.

"The challenge is to try and stay there but our form has been pretty good over a long period of time now."
