The 21-year-old was withdrawn during Trinity's 58-0 defeat to Catalans Dragons last weekend as he was unable to carry on after going down injured in the first half.

Wakefield also lost Tony Gigot to a knee problem and Kelepi Tanginoa to a rib issue in the opening 40 minutes of last Saturday's contest.

Gigot will not feature however Tanginoa could return when Trinity face the same opponents tomorrow afternoon in the Challenge Cup sixth round.

"Kershaw has got a bad hamstring injury, we are probably looking at six to eight weeks," said Chester.

"Gigot won't play this week but could be back next week, he had an issue with his knee and also a dead leg.

"Kelepi trained today (Friday) and looks ok, there is no real pain in any of the contact we have done with him.

"We are hoping he will be back playing."

Elsewhere, there has also been some positive news on the injury front for prolific winger Tom Johnstone.

The 25-year-old could be back within four weeks after learning he would not require surgery on an arm problem which he sustained against Wigan Warriors.

"Tom Johnstone has had some good news, he doesn't need an operation so we are probably looking at another four weeks with Tom," added Chester.

"It is not all doom and gloom and I am not using the injuries as an excuse and we certainly didn't use them as an excuse last week.

"We had three guys who couldn't come back on, we got beat in all kinds of effort and attitude last week and that is not acceptable."

Meanwhile, Ben Jones-Bishop could make his first appearance of the season against Warrington Wolves next weekend.

Wakefield face the Wire at the Halliwell Jones Stadium on Sunday, August 20 and Jones-Bishop could be back in the squad after overcoming an illness.

"I spoke to Bish last week and all the tests have come back positive for him," said Chester.

"I am looking forward to welcoming him back into the squad and he certainly comes into my thoughts for the Warrington game.

"We are going to need everybody fit and available because we have got a really tough period coming up."
