Warrington Wolves 36 Huddersfield Giants 20: Huddersfield hit 'rock bottom' at Wolves – Brown

HUDDERSFIELD coach Nathan Brown described his side's performance as "just plain embarrassing" after their 36-20 defeat against Warrington Wolves yesterday.

Australian winger Chris Hicks led the way for the Wolves with two of Warrington's seven tries, while Chris Bridge was once again among the scorers as he finished with a personal haul of 12 points with a try and four goals.

Brown said: "That was rock bottom for me. We can't kick-off properly, we can't even catch kick-offs when we score. It was just embarrassing.

"When you can't kick-off and keep it in play and then you can't catch a kick-off we have lost the art of how to actually play the game. It's just basic parts of the game.

"People have just lost the plot and it's different people each week. It's not the same ones, it's different offenders.

"We have a tough month and the most disappointing thing is that as a team we are more talented than last year but last year we beat far superior opposition by working hard for each other and showing resolve in defence which we have lost at the moment. Having a week off next week at least gives us the opportunity to get everyone 100 per cent right and have a fully fit squad to select from."

Warrington were reduced to 12 men for 10 minutes when winger Chris Riley was sin-binned and Luke Robinson darted over.

Warrington hit back when Michael Monaghan sent captain Adrian Morley crashing over and Chris Bridge converted, before adding the extras to his own try.

And it got even better for Tony Smith's side as Lee Briers and Richie Mathers combined to send in Chris Riley, before Giants winger Leroy Cudjoe replied with an 80-metre effort.

Brett Hodgson kicked the conversion to cut the deficit to

16-10, before a Chris Hicks double pulled the Wolves away.

Lee Gilmore was sin-binned before Wolves registered their sixth try of the afternoon via King. Two tries in five minutes from Cudjoe and Robinson gave Huddersfield hope of a comeback. But it was the Wolves who had the final word when Paul Wood touched down in the last minute and Bridge converted to seal a well-deserved victory.
