WATCH: Hull FC boss Lee Radford elated to see "buzzing" Jamie Shaul finally return after concussion dramas

The England full-back will return at Warrington Wolves tomorrow having missed nearly two months of action.

Shaul has not featured since the 28-24 win at London Broncos on March 24 as he has had to undergo the strict return-to-play protocols following such head injuries.

“It is great news,” said Radford, with the 26-year-old having needed to make a number of trips to see a specialist in Manchester.

“We found it out on Monday so he still had a couple of physical tests to do.

“But he got the all-clear from the doc so I was really pleased with that.”

Shaul, who won the Challenge Cup with Hull in 2016 and 2017 and made his England bow last year, has been desperate to get back out on the field.

“(Missing) the Cup game (against Castleford) hurt him and the KR game in particular was hard for him because obviously he wants to be involved,” said Radford.

“He started the year red hot for us so to have him missing for so long, we’ve done very well to cope without him.

“It’s hard because he’s been training. He just hasn’t been able to do the physical stuff.

“So to see him buzzing about and skinning people, it’s frustrating as a coach to watch knowing that you can’t select him on a weekend so he’ll be pleased to take to the field on Saturday I’m sure. The more the merrier.”

Teenage Connor Wyne has debuted and made an impressive contribtion in Shaul’s absence while stand-off Albert Kelly has played in the No1 role in recent weeks and added a new dimension to Hull’s play.

That has allowed England’s Jake Connor to start in his favoured six position so has Radford now got a selection dilemma?

“Not really; the more decisions I have to make the better position we’re in effectively,” he said.

“It’s been quite a while since we had that. I’m considering putting Connor in the front row to get his metres up - they’ve been really low over the last couple of weeks!”

Hull are without Gareth Ellis tomorrow but the veteran forward - who was injured in Friday’s Challenge Cup win over Castleford - has had positive news.

He expected to be out for around six weeks but could now be back inside a fortnight.

“I was worried,” said Radford.

“He’s a tough man he doesn’t go down unless it’s a serious one.

“There was the fact that it was his ankle and his knee as well.

“But they were both really low grades so again it was pleasing for us.”
