Waterman equals Dons’ record haul

SHARLSTON were never given a chance as the Dons produced a ruthless professional performance to clinch their place in the fourth round.

Centre Lee Waterman proved unstoppable for Doncaster as he helped himself to a club record-equalling six tries and also matched the points in a game best of 32 by kicking four goals.

Waterman touched down after five minutes with winger Tom Hodson racing through.

Sharlston did not help themselves when Craig Miles was sin-binned for dissent and Doncaster cashed in with Kieran Hyde and Hodson scoring.

Waterman’s second try sparked a response from Sharlston whose tenacity was rewarded when Danny Glassell touched down with Geoff Hick diving over in the corner five minutes later.

But they were rare lapses by the home defence as normal service was restored with further tries from Waterman, Stewart Sanderson and Hyde.

The game was marred by a brawl which resulted in red cards for Doncaster’s Dean O’Loughlin and Sharlston’s Sean Emblem.
