Dewsbury Rams travelled up to West Cumbria yesterday looking to complete the double over Whitehaven and thanks to a masterclass from Anthony Thackeray in the halves, they completed the double with a comfortable victory.

They had the better of both halves having opened the scoring through Dale Morton in the 24th minute.

The home side drew themselves level when Declan Hulme crossed after Brett Seymour came out of the line and missed the tackle.

On-loan Nathan Conroy scored to help regain the lead for the visiting side just before the half-time break.

Whitehaven decreased the gap to two through experienced winger Craig Calvert, but serious damage was done with three second-half tries in 11 minutes.

Scott Hale, Toby Adamson and Dale Morton – with his second – all scored and the visitors looked to have finished off a tired Whitehaven side.

The home side were now down to 14 players and the Rams were taking full advantage, breaking tackle after tackle.

Despite that, Whitehaven grabbed a consolation try through Ben Davies as he crossed between the posts.

The Rams did not let this impact on their fast-flowing rugby and grabbed another try to wrap up the game.

Joel Farrell was the man who crossed in the final minutes to conclude an impressive victory away from home for Rams.
