Wildcats lose prolific winger

WAKEFIELD Trinity Wildcats winger Damien Blanch has signed for Catalans Dragons on a two-year deal.

The Ireland World Cup winger has scored 31 tries in 47 Super League games since joining the West Yorkshire club from Castleford in 2008.

However, Sydney-born Blanch, 27, has now opted to move to France as part of incoming Dragons coach Trent Robinson's rebuilding plans at Perpignan.

General manager Christophe Levy said: "Damien is a really good finisher and will definitely bring a lot of pace to the team.

"Dimitri Pelo and Steven Bell left the club, Chris Walker has an uncertain future with us, so it was important to strengthen our backline."
