World Sheep Dog Trials to be in England for first time

The next World Sheep Dog Trials will be held on the Lowther Estate, near Penrith, next year.

It will be the first time the triennial event has been held in England, following one in Ireland and two in Wales.

Entries are expected from countries ranging from Australia to Finland and the United States as well as the four home nations, according to the president of the International Sheep Dog Society, Tim Longton of Quernmore, Lancaster.

Sponsors are still being sought for the four-day event, starting on September 15. Details will be posted at www.worldsheepdogtrials.org
