York City Knights 24 Blackpool 22 - Changes bring about right result for York

York winger Tom Lineham's late try ended Blackpool's record of eight straight victories.

The victory brought down the curtain on a traumatic week for the Knights with a number of players exiting as coach James Ratcliffe's search for honest endeavour and commitment was ultimately rewarded.

Blackpool conceded a number of early penalties and York took advantage of the territorial possession to repeatedly cause concern in their defence until finally Mike Mitchell going through to touch down with Lee Waterman adding the first of four goals.

But the Panthers hit back as a superb reverse pass saw Casey Mayberry score under the posts with Tom Hemingway's goal levelling the scores.

Waterman increased York's lead latching onto a Danny Ratcliffe kick through to touch down and his penalty secured an eight-point lead at the break.

Blackpool substitute Stewart Howarth's suspiciously forward pass was hit at pace by Jonny Leather to score only for York hooker Jack Lee to reinstate the lead. Mark McCully scored a fine individual try for the Panthers and with only three minutes remaining Damien Munroe levelled the scores for Hemingway's towering touchline conversion to establish a two-point lead.

But Denis Tuffour's arguably wild speculative pass saw Lineham collect and score by the flag for a memorablevictory.
