York City Knights 30 Swinton Lions 22: Lee double helps deliver Cup victory for Knights

Two tries from hooker Jack Lee helped York City Knights to a 30-22 victory over Swinton in the Northern Rail Cup.

Good work from Jordan Tansey sent away winger Waine Pryce to score in the corner although he appeared to tear a muscle during the run-in.

Paul Thorman converted with a massive kick from the touchline to score the first of his five conversions but Swinton soon drew level. Ian Watson’s astute kick off the side of his boot saw Richie Hawkyard score with Ian Mort adding the extras.

The lead changed hands several times with Swinton taking tries from Mort and Mike Morrison, Knights substitute George Elliott replying.

But three successive tries from York ultimately ensured victory. Paul King’s offload saw Tom Bush cross the line and two quickfire tries from Lee, firstly running the diagonal, before linking with Bush ensured there was no way back although Dale Cunniffe grabbed a consolation try.
