York City Knights v Sheffield Eagles: Clarke is only cause of concern for York City

Rhys Clarke is York City Knights coach Dave Woods’s only injury worry ahead of tonight’s televised Co-operative Championship fixture with Sheffield Eagles.

Clarke took a knock to the head during last week’s 28-28 draw with Hunslet and faces a fitness test.

If Clarke is passed fit, Woods could name an unchanged side from the team that travelled to the South Leeds Stadium.

Woods said of the Eagles: “They’re always up in the semis. We know they’re going to be smart and ready to play. They’ve got some strike power out wide with blokes like Menzie Yere, and they’re a really big side. They try to wear you down in the middle and then shift you on the edges.”

Jason Crookes could make his Eagles debut after joining on a dual-registered deal from Bradford Bulls.

Dane McDonald (ankle) is struggling to be fit, but Sheffield coach Mark Aston is keeping his fingers crossed that Kyle Wood will be available to play.

Aston is further boosted by the return of powerful centre Menzie Yere after the completion of his recent suspension.
