York Knights snap up ex-Leeds and Hull back Tansey

York City Knights have completed the signing of former Leeds, Hull, Sydney Roosters and Crusaders utility player Jordan Tansey.

The 25-year-old half-back or full-back, who has signed a one-year deal with the Co-operative Championship club, will join his new team-mates for training tomorrow and could play against his first club Leeds in next Sunday’s friendly at the Huntington Stadium.

York coach Chris Thorman said: “We have been looking for an experienced half-back for the past few months and we believe we have got a top player in Jordan.

“He has played more than 100 games in Super League and also in the NRL and we are delighted to have him on board for 2012.”

It will the second spell in the Championship for Tansey, who played four times for Dewsbury last season after being sacked by Hull for a series of disciplinary breaches and before being snapped up by Crusaders.

He was left without a club when Crusaders pulled out of Super League at the end of the season.

The Knights have also signed centre Ben Hellewell and prop Brooke Broughton on season-long dual registrations from Warrington.
