Young Panthers cruise to Cup title
AMATEURS: Castleford Panthers cruised to a 38-22 victory over Fryston at the latter's ground in the Castleford & Featherstone ARL'S Under-16 Cup Final.
Panthers blasted to an early 18-point lead and never looked back, despite having to contend with a strong recovery by Fryston, who 'won' the remainder of the game and provided the man of the match in stand-off Craig Savage.
Savage scored the closing try of the contest – a long range solo effort involving a well-placed kick – while other touchdowns went to Dylan Birch, Liam Flowers and Danny Snow, three of which Jack Taylor converted.
But it wasn't enough to thwart Panthers, who claimed tries for Kyle Tomlin, Jack Bridon, Jack Coventry, Bradley Wood, Alex Metcalfe and Kyran Johnson and Nathan Butterfield, who landed the goals.
