Youngquest joins Castleford's crusade

CASTLEFORD have confirmed Crusaders' Australian winger Nick Youngquest as their third major signing for 2011.

The much-travelled Youngquest has signed a two-year deal with the Tigers, who have also recruited Harlequins hooker or half-back Danny Orr and Warrington full-back Richard Mathers for next year.

Sydney-born Youngquest, 27, made 37 appearances in Australia's National Rugby League with Cronulla, St George Illawarra, Penrith and Canterbury and played for French side Pia before joining Gateshead in 2009.

He moved to Crusaders at the start of this term and appeared in 24 of their 27 games in the regular Super League season, scoring nine tries to help the Wrexham club reach the play-offs, in which they play Huddersfield on Saturday.

"Nick is a real flyer and he brings a lot of pace to the team," said Castleford coach Terry Matterson. "He's also a good finisher as well.

"We're really pleased to have signed him as we see him as one of the best wingers in the League.

"You only have to look at his stats. He's in the top five metre makers in Super League this year and we're delighted to have captured him."

Youngquest said: "The Tigers are a club with a lot of history and I guess there will be more expectations of me than when I came to Crusaders. I'm ready for that and looking forward to a new challenge."

Matterson confirmed that Tigers are also interested in signing St Helens' former Leeds, Huddersfield, Warrington and Hull KR prop Nick Fozzard, who is out of contract at Knowsley Road.
