But the only question I would ask is that if the FA plan to use the money to plough into grassroots football – which is a brilliant idea as we are falling behind other countries – where are all the pitches going to go?

There are plans to build houses everywhere over the next 20 to 30 years.

But in business terms, selling makes sense for the FA.

Am I actually bothered about the development from a historical footballing perspective, no?

We have only actually owned Wembley for something like 19 years of its whole 95-year existence.

Some £757m was spent redeveloping Wembley and most people in the north don’t like it anyway as it is difficult to get to. It is also difficult getting back at night from.

I actually like the idea of England travelling around the country; I always have done and think it is the way it should be.

And we will still have some England games at Wembley.

So if we can get £900m back from selling it, why not.

Club Wembley will exist still too.

The interesting thing could be that Chelsea – who had looked at Wembley as the obvious venue to play at while Stamford Bridge is rebuilt – could be using a stadium owned by the Fulham owner, which is comical in itself.

But it would be a shame if Mr Khan got rid of one of the nicest grounds in football in Craven Cottage.

It might not happen straight away.

But if you own a big stadium, why would you not use it for a football team?

He is a businessman and somewhere down the line, look at how much the land would be worth at Craven Cottage.

It would be worth more than £800m.
