And, according to L’Equipe, a deal worth in the region of £8m for Diakhaby which would see the forward move to Town is in the offing.

Diakhaby will link up with former Monaco team-mate Terence Kongolo at the John Smith’s Stadium once the deal has gone through.

The future of unsettled Hull City winger Kamil Grosicki, due to report back for pre-season training on Monday, is likely to be resolved in the coming weeks.

Grosicki was granted an additional three weeks of holiday after being part of Poland’s World Cup squad, ensuring he missed the opening month of the Tigers’ pre-season programme.

The 30-year-old - the club’s current highest earner - is intent on leaving Hull ahead of the transfer deadline on August 9, although the Tigers are keen to recoup a fair chunk of the £7m fee which took him to East Yorkshire.
