Fullarton replaces Billy Heath, who was sacked last month having won just two of his last 19 games with The Shaymen.

The former midfielder will take charge of the team for the first time this weekend as Halifax visit Eastleigh. Shaymen fans will be hoping Fullarton has an immediate impact with the club sitting just two points above the National League drop zone.

As a player, the 43-year-old represented Scotland at Under-21 level and played for a host of clubs including St Mirren, Bastia, Crystal Palace and Brentford.

After retiring he held coaching roles at Nottingham Forest, Bolton Wanderers, Blackburn Rovers and Crystal Palace.

In January 2016 he was named as manager of struggling League Two outfit Notts County. His tenure was short-lived, however, he was relieved of his duties only 12 matches into his reign following a 4-1 home defeat to Exeter City.
