A hat-trick from James Briscoe helped Sandal to secure a 22-14 victory at Chester.
The visitors trailed 6-0 in the early stages before flanker Briscoe scored a pushover try. A third penalty put the hosts further ahead but the gap was just a point at the interval following a penalty by fly-half Mark Pease.
Sandal took the lead when Briscoe crossed from a pushover and Pease converted and the third try came when the No 6 peeled off a scrum and dived over. Chester added a try when Sandal were down to 14 men.
Huddersfield returned to winning ways with a 27-24 victory at home to Leicester Lions.
Having lost at Harrogate, the hosts made a bright start with a fifth-minute try from full-back Tom Owen.
The visitors levelled but Huddersfield went ahead once more when lock Austen Thompson crossed and fly-half Chris Bell converted before adding a penalty to make it 18-16 at the break. Leicester took the lead with a try after the break but Bell kicked three penalties and his side held out, merely conceding a penalty before the final whistle.
Otley secured a four-try bonus-point in a 38-27 defeat at Macclesfield.
Tries from Matthew Heaton, Stephen Depledge and Henry Roberts helped make it 22-15 to Otley at the break but the hosts then scored three unanswered tries before Alex Beaumont scored Otley’s fourth.
Harrogate suffered a 35-11 defeat at Sedgley Park.
Lewis Minikin’s penalty gave Harrogate the lead but Park scored four tries before the break.
Harrogate were a transformed side after the interval with forwards and backs linking well in attack and Minikin’s pace helped him send in Harry Parrish for a try.
Park, however, scored the final try in stoppage time.
